Frequently Asked Questions

How does Koha Homes give back to the community?

A percentage of profits from every home built is donated to local charities and community organisations through the Upstream Charitable Foundation. Koha Homes also chooses to work with other Upstream Approved Suppliers wherever possible, which generates further community contributions.

What sort of homes do you build?

Koha Homes can help with all types of build, from small but perfectly formed through to large family homes. What they have in common is the highest quality of workmanship and materials that will stand the test of time. We know you’ll be delighted with the result.

Can Koha Homes help me create an energy-efficient home?

Yes, absolutely. Energy efficiency begins right back at square one, with the design of the home, ensuring that the aspect, layout and design elements such as depth of eaves and position of doorways for cross-breezes are planned to capture the free energy of the sun while keeping your home cooler in the hot summer months.

We ensure all the homes we build are well-insulated and we include pre-wiring for solar, in case you wish to add solar panels in the future.

Koha Homes always looks for ways to minimise the environmental impact of your build. This includes partnering with WasteCo Ltd for rubbish removal. The only New Zealand-owned skip company, WasteCo hand sorts their skips to divert over 50% of waste away from landfills.

If you are interested in other aspects of energy-efficient building, please give Koha Homes a call to chat about what you have in mind.

Will my home be completed on time?

The time it takes to build your home depends on a lot of things: the complexity of the build, location and how quickly the consent is issued by the council, for instance, but at Koha Homes we strive to be extremely realistic with our timeframes, so you know exactly what to expect.

Once we’ve given you a timeframe, we’ll do everything in our power to make the build happen on time. Some circumstances are beyond our control, such as the industry-wide material shortage in 2022, but if anything changes, we’ll be in touch to let you know.

What we can promise is to keep you updated at every step along the way. You’ll hear from us by phone or email, and with shared documents that let you see the process unfold. We welcome you to visit the site regularly so you can feel the excitement of watching your home take shape!
